Mar intern

Mare Intern is a series of ornamental pieces that, through visual poetry, express universal feelings. In it I revisit ancestral dress and appropriate the belief in its healing power, with the wish for a paradigm shift in collective awareness.

Nature holds a central place, seen with great admiration for the beauty inherent in everything the planet creates. The materials include invasive, endangered or overexploited species, such as coral and nacre, which reached me by chance and which, having been extracted in the past, I use to denounce their current critical situation.

In Roman times, the Mediterranean was also called Mare Internum (Inner Sea). I have appropriated that name because all the elements of the collection come from it and, at the same time, represent the inner sea we all carry within.
